An Interview with an Antiguan “Bush Doctor” [VIDEO]

If you are from Antigua and Barbuda, and live around the Jolly Harbour Beach area, you may have noticed this Antiguan, a silver gray hair Rasta on the beach.

He goes by the name of Dr Amu or as his birth certificate reads “Sylvester Tyrone Motley”. A few months ago while visiting Antigua, I had the chance to sit down and chat with Dr Amu. Although not a qualified doctor in current medical terms, Dr Amu creates various herbal products for skin, hair and even Chikungunya, that dreaded virus creating havoc across the Caribbean.

Here is my interview with Dr Amu.

In my 8-minute chat with Dr Amu, I thought he was well spoken, calm and down to earth. His journey into the world of herbal medicine began with him selling aloe vera to tourist on the Jolly Harbour Beach. A few years later he discovered the medicinal power of Caribbean plants and gradually began making herbal products.
