Last year I interviewed Ras’ Deniro Thompson, a young man from Bahamas. There were parts of this interview that I see as similarities with other aspiring and positive young adults from across the Caribbean.
When I asked Thompson to share his advice with other young people, he said
Always possess a positive attitude, be respectful to those around you and to everyone you meet.
[Don’t] let the negative words of others deter you from reaching your goals, dreams and aspirations. But my most important advice is that you should always put God first in every single thing that you do, because when you have God first in your life, everything else will fall into place.
It is no surprise that Thompson was received Bahamas National Youth Award in the area of Community Volunteerism last October. The Bahamas National Youth Awards are held every October in The Bahamas. The award recognizes young persons throughout The Commonwealth of The Bahamas who have done exceptionally well in areas such as Religion, Sport, Education etc.
Thompson continues to do community work throughout Bahamas. He visits schools in various communities promoting youth empowerment.

What’s Next For Thompson?
He is currently working on his first book, of which part proceeds will go towards developing youth programs on The Island of Eleuthera.
I wish him all the best in his future endeavors and we will always share his story on the MyCaribbeanScoop platform.
