Here is another video of a mother in Trinidad and Tobago beating her child (remember the one in April). As expected many of us expressed anger and disgust while some came out in partial support for the mother.
We have seen these videos before; by next week, most of us will have forgotten about this video, the child that was beaten or the mother. We will go back to our daily routine and pretend this never happened. Our likely excuse, we are just too busy with our own problems, or we live in a different town or country, to make a difference. That’s how I felt after the first video.
But now I want to help make a positive change. It is a small change and most likely will never impact the lives of the mother or child in the video. However I want your help; no money required, just simply support our campaign on causes.com and follow the steps.
And if you can’t support the campaign at least ask these questions;
Why would a mother beat her child?
What type of behaviour from the child would justify this action?
How does this child feel?
What is the mother’s mental state? (I am not saying she is insane)
Where is the father of the child?
Obviously there are more questions to ask but perhaps answers to these questions would help us to understand the root of this problem.
