Is Skin Bleaching a Cause for Concern in the Caribbean?

I have been raised to believe that Black is Beautiful but I can’t help but notice some of my friends getting fairer in skin tone. I recently discovered that my friends transformation have been with the help of skin whitening cream.

I decided to ask one of my friends who admitted to using skin bleaching cream and her reply was that it was simply for cosmetic purpose and had nothing to do with hatred for her skin colour. This view seems to be shared by many people across the Caribbean both men and women alike.

Which leads to the obvious is skin bleaching a cause for concern in the Caribbean? Watch the video below and let me know what you think.
