Considering the high unemployment rate among Caribbean youth, it is understandable that many feel powerless.

But fortunately there are some Caribbean youths who have decided that they will empower themselves instead of waiting for political handouts. Eric Charles falls in the group of optimistic Caribbean youths. Three years ago Charles shared his story at a workshop organized by International Youth Foundation.

I hope young people from across the Caribbean use Charles’ story as a source of encouragement especially on days when they may be feeling pessimistic.
