This woman from St Vincent and the Grenadines deserves a standing ovation. Why? Because she decided that she is going to talk about an issue that many of us feel uncomfortable to talk about.

It is an issue of older men in the Caribbean who sexually molest kids (both girls and boys). Yes, it is uncomfortable to talk about particularly for those of us who unfortunately suffered through this ordeal.

I applaud this woman from St Vincent and the Grenadines who used drama on stage at the Nine Mornings Festival to highlight this issue.

It sends a message to victims across the Caribbean that we recognize your pain. And to the parents or relatives, yes it’s hard to expose many of these old men (some of whom are “respected” citizens in the community) but we can’t continue to do so, not if we truly care about these young innocent victims.
