A Young Man Issues a Challenge to All Caribbean People Who Care About Children 1

The awareness of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is low in the Caribbean, few people knows what it is or means and some would even assume that a child with ASD needs to be beaten into behaving. I have even heard about children being treated for possession of evil spirits.

But this young man from St Kitts and Nevis wants to spread the awareness of ASD. It starts with a simple task, light a candle. If you don’t have a candle, light a torch, if you don’t have a candle or torch, read about ASD. This might seems simple but knowing what ASD is can change the way you deal with your children or even children you interact with.

The videos below feature, Hashim Ruan, CEO of NANOSTAR who launched the ASD Candle Light Challenge, his colleague and Candle Light Challenge Contribution from the YEEA academy

You might ask, why should I care? I can’t do anything. Well even changing the way you look at or interact with children with ASD might just be the only thing you need to do.

Well, in the meantime, I will be lighting a candle and challenging my friends to do the same.
