When Disaster Strike Dominica, Ordinary Citizens Like Vanessa Hamilton Respond

1 min read

A few weeks ago Tropical Storm Erika devastated the island of Dominica leaving 20 people dead.  Dominica’s Prime Minister said the storm set the nation’s developmental progress back 20 years.

But the people of Dominica has shown strength even in the first few days after the storm when many saw the extent of the devastation. Government agencies, support organizations and ordinary Dominicans have all come together to help those affected the most.

Ordinary citizens like Vanessa Hamilton respond to the call to help. There are many people like Vanessa, and I just wanted to single her out as often times we forget those who put their normal life on hold to help.

Even with limited resources people from across the Caribbean, provided help and support to victims of the disaster in Dominica. It is great to have someone like Vanessa whose dedication goes a long way as the people of Dominica look to rebuild their lives.
