If someone ask you to describe a Dominican (from Dominican Republic) maybe you would likely reply- Brown Skin, Wavy hair or Latino Looking!

But you might be surprise to know that many Dominicans do not fit these descriptions.

They speak Spanish with a Dominican accent. They are dark-skin and you would be correct to say they look like those people in Haiti. They were born in Dominica to Haitian parents but officially they are not considered citizens of the Dominican Republic.

Hundreds of thousands of these people face the possibility of deportation to Haiti, many have never even set foot on Haitian soil.

Why should you care about these Dominicans? Are They Really Dominicans or Just Haitians Born Overseas?

In the video below, the people interviewed, shed light on the the negative impact that this new immigration law has had on the lives of many Dominicans.

I can’t just simply turn a blind. It’s is simply inhumane !
