The first time I heard Poonam Singh’s Song “Guyana” I felt the shivers. Her song made me feel so proud even though I am not Guyanese.
But I experienced the positive impact that they song had on my Guyanese friends. I was getting tired of them complaining about how things were so bad in Guyana and finally here is a song that they could listen to and feel proud of their country.
The first impression of Poonam might lead to judging her solely on her pretty face but she’s so much more than that. When she represented Guyana in the Miss Global International contest, she used the opportunity to do something positive. Her platform was ‘Eradicating Suicide’.
So what is Singh up to these days?…Poonam is currently pursuing a degree in Law at the University of London through Nations University
