Meet The New Dean of Yale School of Management- From Guyana

Effective July 1, 2019, Economist Kerwin Charles of the University of Chicago who was born in Guyana, will become the Indra K. Nooyi Dean of the Yale School of Management

In making the announcement Yale University President Peter Salovey said

“I am confident that Professor Charles, a renowned economist and award-winning educator, will advance SOM’s role as a global center for the study of business and prepare our students for the challenges and opportunities of a complex interconnected world”

Charles holds a master’s degree and a doctorate from Cornell University, and joined the University of Chicago in 2005 after teaching economics and public policy at the University of Michigan. In addition to his appointment at the University of Chicago, he is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and serves on the Board of Trustees for NORC.
