I want to first give credit to John Greene, whose brilliant video provided me with the opportunity to see the great spirit of the Guyanese People. With the amount of negative news coming out of Guyana and as a non-Guyanese, I often wonder how so many Guyanese still remain optimistic about their country.
Well that question was answered from the images captured from Greene’s video. The video tells a great story but when you capture the little moments, they tell an even more powerful story; Guyanese are a fun loving and community minded people. You can say that there are a “few” bad mangoes but the same could be said for every country on this planet.
Here are the moments captured as images.
Across the Caribbean we live these moments every day of our lives, sometimes we have bad days and the negativity often times overpower us. But like Guyana, there are moments when we come to together as a family and a community free from all the bad things that affects us and we feel good about what makes us a country.
Let’s cherish those moments.
