Young Guyanese Boxing Champion Appeals For Help

27 year old Guyanese Clive Atwell boxer and the country’s national Lightweight title holder, knows how to fight in the ring but his biggest fight today takes place outside the ring. The boxer is seeking financial assistance to undertake surgery overseas, that could ultimately save his life.

Recently the boxer fainted during his title fight against Trinidadian boxer Dexter Gonzales. It turned out that Atwell is suffering an internal brain injury.

Atwell’s promising boxing career faces a life changing setback. Just over a year ago Atwell who goes by the nickname “The Punisher” battled against Jamaican Welterweight Contender champion, Sakima Mullings and after twelve rounds of was crowned CABOFE super/lightweight champion.

Recently the boxer sat down with HGPTV, a Guyanese cable tv channel to discuss the nature of his injury and his appeal for financial assistance in offsetting the cost of surgery overseas.
