Portraits of Haitian Kids Show The Power of Images

These portraits were shot during an assignment in Haiti in 2010 . Only a few of the kids felt compelled to pose or work up any sort of fake expression — they all just sat stock still, remarkably relaxed, exuding what fairly typical Haitian grace.

Many of these were shot on the first official day of school after the earthquake. On that day, time was limited — and so many kids wanted to have their portraits taken, that only some were selected.
