A few years ago Jordan Bennett noticed a number of homeless people scattered across Kingston. The thought of another human without a roof over their head having to search for food was part of the reason why Jordan decided that he had to make a difference.
In 2012, he started a foundation with the ultimate aim of feeding homeless people across the city of Kingston. With a strong Christian faith, Jordan decided that his foundation would be named after the example set by Jesus. The result was his foundation ‘The Feeding Of The 5000″ with the sole purpose “to help to change the world by changing individual lives”.
Fast forward to 2014 and Bennett’s foundation is now continuing on its mission to feed the homeless. On December 21, 2014, ‘The Feeding Of The 5000″ foundation will once again feed homeless men, women and children across Kingston, Jamaica. And this year, the event has garnered more support as Jamaicans at home and abroad come together to show that compassion is still part of what makes us a community.

I am glad that Bennett’s work did not go unnoticed. Last year he received the Youth in Service Award at the Prime Minister’s Youth Award for Excellence 2012 held at Emancipation Park; a well deserved award.
