St Kitts and Nevis Free Health Fair Turns Into Political War of Words

A planned health fair is fast becoming the center for a political war of words in the island of St Kitts and Nevis. Organizers scheduled a health fair for March 17 and 18 to be held in the town of Charlestown on the island of Nevis.  But when Nevis Health Minister Hon. Mark Brantley and ministry personnel failed to show up, the war of words started.

In his defence, the health minister indicated that although they supported initiatives of this nature, he is adamant that all necessary procedures with regard to the protection of the privacy for all participants should be followed.

But the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, came out in direct opposition to Brantley’s stance and went as far as to encourage health practitioners in Nevis to ignore the Nevis Health Minister and partake in the fair.

This clash between the Nevis Health Minister and the Prime Minister over a local issue of this nature reflects the growing fracture in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis.
