Sixteen year old, Lee Jean Jr, named after his St.Lucian father Lee Jean, has become the first person with St.Lucian ties to advance so far into the competition now into its final and 15th season.
Lee Jean Jr lives with his family in Bluffton, North Carolina. His father, Lee Jean, a Saint Lucian from Patience, Mon Repos immigrated to the United States with his family.
He auditioned last summer and then performed for judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, before he was selected to compete in the finals. He sang,“I See Fire” by Ed Sheeran. He eventually got his golden ticket to Hollywood after that. Now he is in the top 10 of the American Idol Contest.
Lee is not new to the music scene as he has been working small, local gigs with his duet partner Hannah Lyndsay Lane long before the contest. But, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Lee. He lost his older brother in a tragic accident in 2012. He was very close to his brother and he used music to get him through that sad time.

On his website, http://www.leejeanmusic.com he says, ” I live for art. I live for creating,I love music and art with all my heart. I auditioned for American Idol and it’s been an amazing ride. I’ve met some amazing people, done some out of this world things and made memories I will never forget. This will not be the last time you see me. That’s a promise.”
