Meet 12 year old Daniyelle Bennett of Glenco, Trinidad and Tobago, an actress, a singer, a triathlon winner and a competitive karate winner. But more than just focusing on herself, Daniyelle has been leading the fight against obesity.

After learning that Trinidad and Tobago had the third highest obesity rate in the world Daniyelle went a step further and in 2013 launched her own campaign “Ride to promote wellness.”

Daniyelle’s drive to be the best continues. On October 12 she participated in the 20th annual New York Traditional Invitational Karate Do Championships held in White Plains at Westchester Community college. She finish second in her age group, a remarkable performance given the strong competition.

Thank you Daniyelle for showing me that age does not matter when it comes to making positive changes in the Caribbean.

You are shining star !
