Every year Trinidadians turn out to carnival to enjoy themselves, a welcome break from the daily issues that they face. Held on the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, this popular event is attended by thousands of people both from Trinidad and abroad.
With sound system blaring calypso and soca tunes, the crowd goes wild, women gyrating and men pouncing like an animal. For years Trinidad carnival was the premier destination for people looking to soak up the Caribbean sunshine and “jump up” to calypso music. Recently other carnivals in Jamaica, New York, Toronto and London, have raised the “enjoyment levels” and now it competing with the Trinidad Carnival for sponsors and visitors.

The organizers of the 2014 Carnival had promise to make this year bigger and better. This year many celebrities flew into to attend. On the list were Love & Hip Hop star Tahiry, Boris Kodjoe, Nicole Ari Parker, and Damien Dante Wayans.
Now that the signs are down, the costumes are neatly packed away and drunken nights in Port of Spain long forgotten, the 2014 Trinidad Carnival was a success. So the countdown now begins for the 2015 Carnival
