This was supposed to be a fun trip to Trinidad and Tobago but for Elissa Antonio, her vacation took a turn for the worst.

On March 22, Antonio flew to Trinidad and Tobago to visit her family. Tragedy struck two weeks ago, when during a night beach walk with her cousins, she fell 40 feet down a cliff and sustained serious injuries to her pelvis, leg and heel.

She is now laying in a Port of Spain hospital. Unfortunately there are no resources in Trinidad and Tobago to treat Antonio. In an interview with CTV, a Canadian TV Station, Antonio said Antonio said.

“The CT scan machine was also broken so they couldn’t do a scan on me.”

That means Antonio will have to return to Canada for treatment. Her family has set up a fundraising page to have Antonio flown to Toronto for treatment via air ambulance.

So far she has received overwhelming support and she is close to the $56,000 target to get her back to Canada.
